The historical path

 

 

The production of coke on the territory of Ruda Śląska commenced alongside with the creation of the Antonina foundry, the first foundry plant within city’s boundaries. Initially, this plant possessed one coke-fired furnace, the coke for which was manufactured in the open charcoal piles near the foundry. In 1840 was opened the Friedens-Eisenhütte (Peace) foundry, which also manufactured coke. In 1900 was commenced the construction of a coke plant near the Gotthardschacht (Karol) mine in Orzegów.

 

On 1st April 1903 was commenced the production of coke in the newly opened Gotthard (Orzegów) coke plant.
