In 1905, the Orzegów coke plant received a second battery that had the same parameters as battery no. 1 and two years later was commissioned another, 35-chamber Otto-Hoffmann system battery. Battery no. 3 was the newest type of coke battery. It was developed in 1881 by engineer Gustaw Hoffmann from Wałbrzych. In his project, Gustaw used Siemens regenerators that saved big columes of coal gas. The project also included gas receivers sprinkled with tar, which contributed to a quicker cooling.
